Read the Exposure Conditions and Legend Before Relying on a Chemical-Resistance Chart

A floor-system chart may contain reassuring letters or check marks without answering the exact operating question at your property. Before using it to select a repair or coating, read the exposure basis and the meaning of each category. Resistance, appearance change and the conditions of a test should remain distinguishable in the proposal.

Match the chart to the actual material and exposure

Identify the specific system, chemical identity, relevant concentration and contact circumstances described in the source. The cited manufacturer chart includes concentration and exposure-duration categories; it is an example of document structure, not a recommendation for a product or proof of its use by a SlabWorx provider. Do not substitute a common name for an unknown cleaning product or infer a cleaning recipe from a resistance table. Have the responsible site personnel supply the relevant information safely.

Read the definition behind the category

The example chart distinguishes resistance-related outcomes from discoloration or loss of gloss. A visual change and a loss of a required operating property can have different consequences for an owner. Ask the actual provider which outcome its recommendation addresses and what limitations apply. A category should not be converted into a universal promise about any chemical, temperature, duration or combination of exposures that happens to occur in the room.

Use the chart as one part of system selection

Keep the current manufacturer information with the proposed assembly and ask the appropriate technical reviewer whether its basis fits the actual service conditions. Substrate suitability, installation requirements and safe handling remain separate questions. Where the site condition differs from the published basis, request clarification before treating the table as acceptance. This lets the owner compare an appearance requirement and an operating requirement openly, while preserving the applicable project terms. It does not create a new chemical-resistance warranty or authorize a stronger cleaning concentration merely because a related entry appears favorable.

Use one row for each field. Mark unknown information clearly and retain the original records.

Worked example

Illustrative example: a fictional facilities manager sees a favorable chart entry while comparing floor finishes. The team checks the exposure basis and discovers that appearance categories are listed separately. It asks which result matters to its own operation instead of treating every letter as the same guarantee.
